Communities First

The Penywaun Enterprise Partnership (PEP) is the Lead Body for Communities First, the Welsh Assembly Government's flagship programme to combat poverty and disadvantage. Supported by the Welsh Assembly Government, and Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, PEP co-ordinates a local Communities First Partnership made up of a cross section of community reperesentatives and agencies with an interest in the ongoing wellbeing of the community. In turn, the Partnership are guardians of a Community Action Plan that sets out needs and aspirations under key themes contained within the programmes Vision Framework (Health & Wellbeing, Jobs & Business, Lifelong Learning, Environment, Child Poverty and Community Safety). PEP also employs staff, funded through the Communities First programme. This team works directly to help address issues within the community and to assist the community to explore any and all means of delivering against priorities set within the Community Action Plan.
